TEAM International partners with icomasoft® to support system administrators in issue analysis and problems solving.

The Client
icomasoft® AG is a Swiss manufacturer of software solutions for intelligent datacenters. Its flagship product opvizor® is a SaaS platform for automation and management of VMware environments. It allows for predicative analysis and issue prevention in virtual IT infrastructures.

Engagement and Challenge
TEAM International is involved into the development and testing of 3 modules of opvizor®:
1. Agent Module
2. Processing Module
3. Platform Module

The Challenge is that the project is very dynamic and uses many new technologies. VMware environments that the solution works on include 1000+ servers and thus are very complex. icomasoft’s clients include Siemens, VMware, NetApp and many others.

Another challenge is that the development effort is distributed between 3 centers located worldwide:
• Icomasoft team in Switzerland
• Icomasoft partner team in Poland
• TEAM International team in Ukraine

TEAM International’s independent QA/Testing team tests software produced by all 3 development teams.

Methodology
The project uses SCRUM/Agile development methodology and is following best practices of SCRUM.

Testing Process
TEAM developers and QA/Testers work on Frontend, Backend and Web Services Layer. Team International’s QA team is responsible for testing of all parts of the application.

Types of testing performed:
• White-box testing
• Black-box testing
• Performance testing/load testing
• Functional testing
• Automated testing*
*50% of tests have been automated on Selenium platform.

TEAM International’s QA team tests the application in the real-time production environment – this allows to precisely perform the full spectrum of testing, identify issues faster and cut the number of bugs in production.

To test all various scenarios our QA/Testers try to become subject area experts in the VMware environment. To ensure that our project follows the standard TEAM processes QID department conducts audits of the project on regular basis. Project processes have been improved based on audit results.

Team International QA team collects a number of QA/Testing metrics. TEAM uses Jira that automatically gathers the following needed metrics: defect removal, defect reopens, closed vs opened, time to solve, resolution type, client issues vs team issues.
